Nirupama Rajapaksa pays a visit to Meenakshi temple

Rajapakse, visited the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple here along with her husband Thirukkumaran Nadesan on Tuesday.

 

She offered prayers to Goddess Meenakshi and Lord Sundareswarar during the half-hour visit. She is a Member of the Parliament from the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) party and assumed office in November 2005.

Tight security was provided to her with a heavy deployment of police personnel as black flags were shown by the cadres of Marumalarichi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) and activists of Sri Lankan Tamil Protection Movement during her visit to Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple on Monday at Rameswaram.
