Palitha Kohona co-heads UN working group

Dr. Palitha Kohona, Sri Lanka's permanent representative at the UN in New York, has been appointed a co-chairman of a UN working group on marine biological diversity.






Together with Dr. Liesdeth Lijnzaad of the Netherlands, Dr. Kohona will head this panel.

It will study the conservation and sustainable use of the marine biological diversity beyond areas of national jurisdiction.

The appointment is for the third meeting of the UN Working Group in 2010.
