Six Chinese aircraft to be purchased for the Air Force on a high interest commercial loan

A senior official at the Aviation Ministry said that the government has decided to purchase six Xian MA-60 aircraft for the Sri Lanka Air Force.

The official said that two 60 seater aircraft are to be brought to the country this year and they are to be handed over to Mihin Lanka. He added that the aircraft will be used to develop domestic flights.

However, an official from the Civil Aviation Authority said that aviation law did not permit the transportation of civilian passengers in air craft identified for military purposes.
However, the six aircraft are to be purchased on a high interest commercial loan.
